Costco donates $1,422,453 to UC Davis Children’s Hospital

Costco team members across inland Northern California rallied to raise $1,422,453 for local pediatric patients during the annual Month of Miracles in May. The 2023 campaign for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals (CMN) supports UC Davis Children’s Hospital, the area’s only CMN Hospital.

A total of 16 area warehouses from Redding to Tracy asked members to make a donation at checkout. The Costco Business Center, Central Fill Center and Depot also took part in the fundraising effort, relying on team members and business partners, rather than customers. All funds raised locally stay local to help children in UC Davis Health’s 33-county service area.

The Chico Costco team ranked second in the country and took the top spot in our market for funds raised during the Month of Miracles campaign.

This year’s totals beat the 2022 donation of $1,247,862, with Chico Costco once again raising the most funds for our market – $210,168 – and claiming the number two spot in the country. The depot in Tracy raised just over $140,000 from staff and business partners alone. Costco’s overall donation to CMN at UC Davis totals $17,081,706.

“There was so much enthusiasm and excitement during the campaign. It was great to see,” said Michelle Tafoya, program director for Children’s Miracle Network at UC Davis. “When the totals came in, we were thrilled that their efforts paid off. The tremendous generosity of Costco members and employees will make a life-changing impact on local kids.”

Costco has raised close to $500 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1987. Donations support a full range of children’s services including research, education, equipment and clinical care and all funds raised locally stay local.

Currently, more than 600 Costco locations nationwide participate in this fundraising campaign. Contributions to CMN impact the ability of hospitals like UC Davis Children’s Hospital to meet urgent needs, while also maintaining an exceptional standard of care.
