Monday Miracle Story: Logan Baike-Rick

Welcome to our “Monday Miracle Story” series, which will introduce you to some amazing UC Davis Children’s Hospital patients, both past and present. Their families have graciously agreed to share their journeys to help underscore the importance of donating to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals so critical treatments, health care services, pediatric medical equipment, research and education can continue.

Logan in the new Children’s Surgery Center at UC Davis Children’s Hospital scheduled to open in late 2018.

Born at 25 weeks, Logan Baikie-Rick spent the first seven months of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. But the journey didn’t end there. Five major surgeries and multiple procedures followed. This would take a toll on anyone…but not Logan. This amazing boy still has a smile on his face and stars in his eyes. Meet Logan and watch his miracle story. Please scroll down to view the second video on the page.

How donations help kids like Logan: Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) donations help purchase state-of-the-art, $50K Giraffe OmniBeds. These beds provide additional protection for babies with underdeveloped systems and ensure micro-preemies have the optimum chance to thrive.

This Miracle Story brought to you by ABC10Walmart and Sam’s Club: Walmart and Sam’s Club share a basic belief – that every child deserves the chance to live better. That’s why they have supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for 30 years, raising nearly a billion dollars for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the process. In 1987, the man affectionately known to the CMN Hospitals team as “Mr. Sam,” Sam Walton, committed his company and its resources to raising money for children’s hospitals with the promise that “the associates will amaze you.”

Walmart associates play a key role in supporting their local children’s hospitals. In addition to the countless hours volunteered at CMN Hospitals, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates across the US and Canada raised more than $63 million dollars in 2016 through fundraisers and register donations. Their associates continue to amaze.

And they couldn’t do it with the generosity of the millions of customers who shop in their stores and clubs every week. Together, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members are ensuring that millions of children in communities across North America continue to receive the world-class treatment they need to live better.
