Our why: Vincent

When a routine ultrasound revealed a heart defect in their developing baby, Stephanie and Travis Dover of Folsom were referred by their health care provider to an out of town hospital.

“The thought of having to travel outside of the Sacramento area with all our kids (6 at the time) was overwhelming,” Stephanie said. “We did not know what we were going to do.”

Enter UC Davis Children’s Hospital and the Fetal Care and Treatment Center. As the first comprehensive multidisciplinary fetal diagnosis and therapy center in inland Northern California, it is not only close to home, it offers internationally renowned physicians with the expertise the Dovers needed. Combined with the specialized care at the Pediatric Heart Center, Stephanie and Travis knew they were in the right place.

“I believe Vincent would not be alive today if it weren’t for the team effort,” Travis said. “Everyone worked so well together.”

Almost two years later and Vincent is keeping his parents busy. An early walker, he’s been running and climbing ever since. Vincent’s a determined boy who knows what he likes (goldfish, plumbs and cheese) and what he doesn’t (apple skins). New to him this year … becoming a BIG brother in July! Congrats to Vincent and the whole Dover family.
