CMN Friendship Invitational golf tournament raises $85,492 for UC Davis Children’s Hospital

Golfers came together “fore” the kids at the 11th annual Friendship Invitational this month at the Granite Bay Golf Club. Through golfer registrations, sponsorships, auction purchases and other charitable donations, Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) at UC Davis was able to raise a total of $85,492 for local sick and injured children treated at UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

More than 120 golfers registered for this year’s Friendship Invitational. Golfers were treated to 18 holes, including surprises and meals on the course provided by Canyon Riders BBQ and Miller’s, as well as entertainment provided by media sponsors ABC10 and 101.5 K-HITS.

The two-day event began on Sunday, April 9. CMN hosted an evening of food, auction items and entertainment. The event, named “Miracle Maker Sunday,” drew special attention to the innovative and groundbreaking medical services being provided at UC Davis Children’s Hospital, and also displayed the type of equipment that is funded through local donations.

The UC Davis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Critical Care Transport Ambulance was on display in front of the banquet hall which provided an experience for attendees to see the advanced equipment that is dedicated to the care of pediatric patients.

CMN TV Person of the Year Mark S. Allen from ABC 10 was once again in attendance in support of CMN. Allen auctioneered the Monday auction.

Miracle Weekend is an opportunity for Children’s Miracle Network at UC Davis to share the impact of people helping people while changing and saving lives,” said Jacquelyn Mills, CMN at UC Davis director of development. “The support is incredible and it is humbling to work with the committee and generous supporters who made this possible. We are grateful to the community for making this a success. It definitely is another way that the CMN family takes a ‘swing’ at fighting childhood disease!”

Special performances were provided by musician Brian Lee Bender and comedian Mark G.

This year’s golf tournament was presented by NorCal Golf 4 Charity. NorCal has been organizing golf tournaments for 23 years and has helped raise more than $1.7 million for charities focused on the health and well-being of children.

Other major sponsors included Kitchell and First Tech Federal Credit Union.
