Ronald McDonald House Northern California gifts a new caring cart to UC Davis Children’s Hospital

Ronald McDonald House Northern California generously donated a new caring cart to UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

The cart makes the rounds to the pediatric intensive care unit on Davis 10, pediatrics on Davis 7, and Davis 5 in the neonatal intensive care unit, delivering complimentary beverages and snacks for UC Davis Children’s Hospital patient families.

The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department at UC Davis Children’s Hospital oversees the caring cart program while volunteers staff the cart. Food and nutrition services assists with cart storage, as well as providing food handling and cleaning training for volunteers.

As of the beginning of June, the Caring Cart Program served more than 1,200 parents and children in 2018. Ronald McDonald House Northern California keeps families together to help kids heal and cope better. This home-away-from-home provides affordable, temporary housing to families who must travel to the Sacramento-area to receive medical treatment for their seriously ill or injured child. The organization is dedicated to supporting programs that improve the lives of children and their families, including the UC Davis Children’s Hospital caring cart program.
